Components of Higher Education System

The Moroccan Higher Education system is made up of three main sectors:

  • Public Higher Education
  • Partnership based Higher Education
  • Private Higher Education

Public Higher Education consists of:

  • Universities: they are public establishments under the authority of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executives’ Training. The Kingdom of Morocco has Twelve (12) Public Universities and a privately managed public university throughout the different regions of the country.
  • Non-university Higher Education Establishments: they are Specialized Higher Education Establishments under the administrative and financial authority of technical ministries and under the pedagogical authority of the ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executives’ Training.

Partnership based Universities and establishments are non-profit foundations established within the framework of the active internationalization of the Moroccan Higher Education. Such universities and establishments are under the pedagogical authority of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executives’ Training.

Private Higher Education includes Universities and establishments founded through private initiatives but under the pedagogical authority of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Executives’ Training.
